Editing & deleting messages
Fix a typo or wrong number after you've sent it — edit any of your messages at any time, delete ones you don't want, and copy text out.
Basic Sent the wrong weight or a typo? You can fix it. You can edit and delete your own messages.
Editing a message
Open the actions on one of your messages and choose Edit. The message drops into the composer with its text — and all its formatting — ready to change. Send it again to save.
- No time limit. Unlike many apps, there’s no 24-hour window — you can edit any of your messages whenever, however old.
- Formatting is preserved. The message comes back into the composer fully formatted, and any formatting you add or remove is re-saved with it.
- It’s marked edited. An edited message shows a small “edited” label next to its timestamp, so the conversation stays honest — the other person can see it was changed.
Edits sync in real time — the corrected text (and the “edited” label) appear for the other person immediately, on web and mobile.
Deleting a message
Choose Delete from a message’s actions to remove it from the conversation. It disappears for everyone. On mobile you’ll get a quick confirmation prompt first so you don’t delete by accident.
Deletion is permanent. There’s no undo, so delete deliberately — for a small fix, editing is usually the better choice.
Copying text
Need to reuse what someone wrote — a client’s logged numbers, an address? Use Copy from any message’s actions (including messages that aren’t yours) to copy its text to your clipboard.
Where the actions live
| Platform | How to open a message’s actions |
|---|---|
| Web | Hover a message and use its action menu |
| Mobile | Press and hold the message bubble |
On mobile, press-and-hold gives you Edit / Delete on your own messages, and Copy on anyone’s.
