WHOOP
Link a client's WHOOP account to pull recovery, strain and sleep performance straight into Protocol — a quick one-time sign-in, then it keeps flowing on its own.
Basic WHOOP is a recovery-and-strain wearable popular with serious athletes. Unlike Apple Health or Health Connect, it isn’t tied to the phone’s OS — a client links their WHOOP account with a quick sign-in, and Protocol pulls their daily scores through WHOOP directly. Any phone works; the client just needs an active WHOOP membership.
What syncs
These are WHOOP’s signature daily metrics — the green/yellow/red recovery read, the day’s strain, and how the night’s sleep scored — plus the resting heart rate and HRV behind them.
How your client connects
WHOOP uses a secure sign-in (OAuth) — your client logs in to WHOOP and approves Protocol; no password is ever shared with you or with Protocol.
- Open your app → Profile → Health Data.
- Tap Connect on the WHOOP card.
- A WHOOP sign-in opens in a secure in-app browser. The client logs in and taps Approve to allow Protocol to read their recovery, sleep and workout data.
- They’re returned to the app, and WHOOP appears as a connected source.
It keeps flowing on its own
This is the big difference from the phone-based integrations: once WHOOP is linked, data arrives without the client opening your app. WHOOP pushes each new recovery, sleep and workout to Protocol as it’s calculated, and Protocol double-checks hourly so nothing’s missed. A client’s morning recovery is in their profile shortly after they wake — no app-open required.
Two sources, no clutter. If a client has both WHOOP and Apple Health connected, Protocol treats the WHOOP reading as the more reliable one for overlapping metrics (recovery, HRV, resting heart rate). You see one clean number per day, not two competing ones.
Turning it off
To unlink, the client revokes Protocol from their WHOOP account — in the WHOOP app or at whoop.com, under the connected-apps / privacy settings, remove Protocol’s access. New data stops arriving; everything already synced stays on their profile.
