Add a chat message to a client's Progress Entry
The "Add to Progress Entry" action on any chat message (or media tile in the Shared content drawer) files that message's text and attachments into the client's progress log, either as a new dated entry or appended to an existing one.
Advanced Spotted something worth tracking in a chat? Add to Progress Entry captures it directly into the client’s progress log without leaving the conversation — no copy-pasting, no manual entry.
Coach/admin only. This action is available to coaches and admins; clients don’t see it.
1-on-1 chats only. Add to Progress Entry is offered in your direct chat with a client, and always files into that client’s progress, whether the message was sent by the client or by you. In group chats the Shared content drawer still works, but this action isn’t shown.
Where to find it
There are two entry points:
- Any message in the thread — hover the message and open the ⋮ (more) menu. Choose Add to Progress Entry.
- Any media tile in the Shared content drawer — open the drawer with the grid icon in the conversation header, then tap ⋮ on a tile. See Browse shared media, files & links →.
What gets filed
| Source | What lands in the entry |
|---|---|
| Message text | Added to the entry’s internal notes (coach-only; the client never sees it) |
| Attached images or videos | Attached to the entry as progress media |
| Attached documents | Attached to the entry as progress media |
New entry vs. appending to an existing one
- New entry — Protocol creates a fresh progress entry dated to the message’s send date. The message text goes into internal notes, and any media attaches to the entry’s Progress media tab.
- Append to existing — if a progress entry for that date already exists, you can choose to add to it instead of creating a duplicate. The new notes are appended below any existing ones; media is added alongside what’s already there.
Finding the entry
The filed entry appears in the client’s Tracking tab under Check-ins, with a Coach source chip (the same chip used when you log an entry manually). From there you can write or generate a report for it — see Progress reports → and Check-ins & progress tracking →.
